During the summer of 2024, Chesworth Construction Ltd. successfully completed a comprehensive refurbishment and reconfiguration of the commercial-grade kitchen at Ysgol Dyffryn Dulas School (Corris, Near Machynlleth) for Cyngor Gwynedd Council. The project, delivered under a JCT Minor Works contract, involved a complete transformation of the existing primary school kitchen to enhance its functionality and compliance with modern standards. Chesworth Construction's site team, suppliers, and subcontractors worked collaboratively to deliver this high-quality project, resulting in an efficient, safe, and modern kitchen facility tailored to meet the school’s needs. Despite being undertaken during the school’s summer holidays, the project still required careful planning and execution to accommodate staff occasionally on-site for school preparation activities. The project team implemented a stringent health and safety plan to ensure the well-being of the staff and maintain smooth progress throughout the work.

Installation of Whiterock Cladding to all walls for enhanced durability and hygiene
Stainless Steel Cladding installed on walls in the cooking area
Replacement of the existing kitchen door with a purpose made Whiterock Door
Installation of a new suspended ceiling grid with wipeable, easy-clean tiles for kitchen use
Installation of Altro Classic 25 Safety Flooring to ensure slip-resistant surfaces
Installation of bespoke Stainless Steel Moffat Kitchen equiptment
Installation of Lincat Fryer and Wash Hand Basin
Installation of a Falcon E163i Electric 6 Zone Induction Oven Range
Reconfiguration of the kitchen layout, including new partition walls and additional storage spaces
Installation of internal FD30 Fire Doors with automatic overhead closers
Notable Mechanical & Electrical works;
Full mechanical/plumbing upgrade, including installation of new chrome hot and cold pipework for water supply
Installation of Hyco PF50 unvented water heater to provide reliable hot water for kitchen operations
Installation of a bespoke Extract Canopy with recessed LED lighting, with extract ductwork and fans positioned on flat roof
Installation of a new Air Handling Unit (AHU) with a backup battery system, placed on the flat roof using rubber feet for noise and vibration control
Installation of a Building Management System (BMS) panel, linking the AHU to Cyngor Gwynedd Council’s IT systems and the school's fire alarm
Complete electrical rewire of the kitchen, including a new Schneider Distribution Board and MK Masterseal sockets and switches for improved safety
Fire alarm system upgrade and rewire to improve compliance and interface with the BMS panel
Installation of new Stainless Steel Roller Shutter serving hatch
Installation of new lighting system throughout
